Year 5 IPC EXIT POINT (Celebrating the end of our learning)

Posted by addisonlamb on February 26, 2012

The Middle Hall was tranformed on Thursday 23rd February as year 5 parents had to decide which planet they would live on. They discovered that planet Earth had been destroyed and the human race needed another planet to survive on.

The children worked extremely hard using their learning from science, art, design technology, literacy, numeracy and ICT to convince members of the audience.

Which planet would you decide to live on?

Reception Artists

Posted by Addison Primary School on December 6, 2011

We have been looking at paintings by the artist Piet Mondrian. His most famous paintings are made up of rectangles and sqaures. We talked about the shapes we could see in his paintings and decided to make our own art based on his work. We arranged thick and thin black lines to make shapes and coloured some of the shapes in using pastels. We are very proud of the results.

Year 3 Art Gallery

Posted by Addison Primary School on April 6, 2011

Red and Ruby class turned the middle hall into an art gallery for the afternoon. Children from other classes were invited to make their own art.  We even had a quiz with prizes for the correct answers.   All the children worked hard to create beautiful artwork.

Our Mummy Billy

Posted by Addison Primary School on January 19, 2011

Ruby class has been learning about Ancient Egypt.  This week we made a mummy and after a tense vote between a selection of names including Sammy, Billy and Sohrab Jnr, the final name chosen was Billy.

Billy the Pharoah enjoyed his first day at school.   He liked helping everyone to make their own mini mummy.

Art Excursion – Year 4 – Indian Art

Posted by Addison Primary School on June 7, 2010

Last half term both Year 4 classes visited the National Portrait Gallery to learn about Indian Art.  Our teacher and guide Anita showed us portraits from India.  Later she showed both classes how paint was made in the past using a pestle and mortar.

On Thursday 20th May 2010, we went to the National Portrait Gallery.  And we had so much fun!!  My favourite portrait was Sahib Jan , Banda, Bundelkhand. It’s a beautiful woman who is wearing a sari.  There was also another strong painting Ram Roo Phalke, Gwalior made in 1865.

Anita was a laday who worked in the National Portrait Gallery.  And she was our master painter.  She showed us how to make paint (malachite).

First we got tracing paper with holes and we coloured it with charcoal.  Then we coloured the frame.  I used malachite and gold, it looked beautiful!  I hope we get to go again and go to a different section.

We went to Hammersmith and got a train to the National Portrait Gallery, this took place on Thursday 20th May 2010.

We went to look at the Indian Portraits with Anita.  We looked at portraits before going to paint.  We found out that Hindu people wear red for their weddings or they wear white for a funeral.

We went to the paint room and learnt how paint is made.  Anita said never mix the colours.  We were touching, feeling and smelling.  She said let’s practice lines, we did that and then started painting.

My painting was a Hindu person called Ram Roa Phalke.  It was getting tricky and I got into it.  We had to do the dots with charcoal.   My dots did not come out properly but I painted it properly.

We went to the National Portrait Gallery last week to learn about Indian paintings.

We first went to look at Indian paintings.  There was lots of pink, blue and orange in the paintings.  The kings were on elephants and they had swords or shields.  In the portait the Prince and the Kings has guards that had armour and swords.

Anita was our guide and our art teacher.  She taught us how to make paint.  You get some coloured gems and then smash it.  We got to do paintings ourselves.

We didn’t finish our painting so we carried on at school. Anita our guide gave us paint boxes.  I thought the gallery was better the second time we went because we got to paint.
