Year 5 Planetarium Visit!
Posted by addisonlamb on February 7, 2012
As our IPC topic is called ‘Mission to Mars’ and we are learning about Earth and space, it seemed a great idea to invite a planetarium to visit the year 5 classes. We were so excited! For some of us it was our first time to visit one. The entrance was really exiciting too! We learnt about seasons, night and day and star constellations. We learnt so much from Matthew and said so at the end too!

Year 5 Mission to Mars (ENTRY POINT)
Posted by addisonlamb on February 7, 2012
To start off our IPC topic, the whole of year 5 went to the Science Museum. We watched a 3D film about a NASA moon landing and explored the science and space area. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and it was a great way to start off our super space learning!

Year 5 Entry Point – Thinking about drugs!
Posted by asmith147 on May 4, 2011
Today in Year 5 we had a visit from a pharmacist, Daniel, and PC Mark Denny. They spoke to us about drugs and the implications of taking them. Daniel taught us about legal drugs and how even over the counter medicine can be dangerous if we don’t take it correctly. PC Denny spoke to us about illegal drugs and the consequences of ‘being in possession’. We had an interesting morning and had a lot of our questions answered, but we still have more to find out…

Irreversible Changes
Posted by asmith147 on March 25, 2011
This week in our science and IPC learning we were focussing on irreversible changes, we used borax and glue to create plastic and then used different strategies to stretch a curly wurly bar as long as possible!
It was great fun and we learnt the meaning of reversible and irreversible changes.
