As our IPC topic is called ‘Mission to Mars’ and we are learning about Earth and space, it seemed a great idea to invite a planetarium to visit the year 5 classes. We were so excited! For some of us it was our first time to visit one. The entrance was really exiciting too! We learnt about seasons, night and day and star constellations. We learnt so much from Matthew and said so at the end too!

Year 5 Mission to Mars (ENTRY POINT)
Posted by addisonlamb on February 7, 2012
To start off our IPC topic, the whole of year 5 went to the Science Museum. We watched a 3D film about a NASA moon landing and explored the science and space area. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and it was a great way to start off our super space learning!

Science with a Bang!
Posted by Alex Morgan on November 1, 2011
A group of Addison children went to Piccadilly today for a topical lecture at the Royal Institution about the Science of Fireworks. Professor Christopher Bishop, from the University of Cambridge, amazed everyone with a series of incredible bangs and flashes. The children discovered the chemistry involved in creating effective gunpowder and, by a series of brilliant demonstrations, they also saw clearly the impact on chemical reactions of heat, density and containment – really important if you want your firework to go with a bang!
A picnic in Green park was a bonus in the November sunshine!

Year 1 – Planting seeds
Posted by jennyworssam on May 3, 2011
In Year 1 our summer term topic is ‘We are what we eat.’ We are looking at different types of food, where our food comes from and how different food is grown. Today in class we planted a broad bean seed in our Science groups. We are going to make weekly diary entries recording the different stages of the growth. Keep looking out on the blog for more pictures.
