An Invitation to Year 2’s Diwali Assembly

All year 2 families are warmly invited to the Year 2 Diwali Assembly on Thursday 3rd November at 9am.

The children have all being working very hard: learning about Diwali; making masks and rangoli patterns; learning dances and drumming and rehearsing their lines.  Some of the children have even made an animation to tell the story of Rama and Sita.

Pearl Class – shared mythical animation

Pearl Class created a shared animation – using 2d figures and backdrops, taking the shots and editing the whole using two different sets of software.

Cream Class animations

Making Movies Club

Turning over….Action!  Watch out for Addison’s Making Movies Club.  A new term means a new production team – some of them are seen here learning some of the skills needed for making a film.

Addison Scientists at the Royal Institution

A group of Addison children were amazed and inspired by a lecture on ‘The Chemistry of Absolutely Nothing’ given by Dr Irfan Latif  at the Royal Institution in Piccadilly on Wednesday.

Not quite sure what to expect from ‘nothing’, the children were treated to a range of chemical demonstrations involving the gases found in our atmosphere. Solid carbon dioxide, burning helium balloons and massive bangs from a hydrogen and oxygen mixture all got our children thinking hard about the properties of the gases all around us. Our children even got to help out making raspberry ice cream using liquid nitrogen!

As the scientists, leaders and policy makers of the future, Dr Latif challenged our children to use their enthusiasm and interest to go on to play their part in creating sustainable fuel sources for the future.

Reception – Windy Day

Strawberries and Blueberries enjoyed the windy weather today. They made their own kites and streamers and investigated high and low how they moved in the wind. Lots of fun!

   

     

A new year for Latin Club

Latin Club is now up and running for the year.  Welcome back to our longstanding members and hello to all our new club members.

The club is run with the support of 6th formers from St Paul’s Girls’ School.
